Sports Performance

The GO! Sports Performance Programs are utilized by a broad range of professional, Olympic, elite, collegiate, high school, and recreational athletes from all over the country. Individually customized sport specific programs can be developed for athletes at every level. Let the GO! Team help you improve your performance before next season!

Exercise Prescription and Program Design:
Cardiorespiratory Endurance, Muscular Endurance, Strength, Flexibility, Power, Speed, Agility

GO! Sports Performance Programs can be designed for individuals, groups, and teams. A GO! Professional will teach you how to properly train the underlying systems that enhance sports performance. Factors effecting program design include age, sport, position, season, skill level, and goals.

GO! Athletics currently works with several sports teams across the country. We meet with coaches and athletes, assessing fitness levels, outlining goals, and developing strength and conditioning programs that will increase the team’s sports performance.

Performance Testing:
Cardiorespiratory Endurance, Muscular Endurance, Strength, Flexibility, Power, Speed, Agility

GO! Athletics uses the latest technology and sport specific evaluations to help ACHIEVE YOUR POTENTIAL! Performance testing can be used for individuals or groups of any size. Test and evaluate the skills necessary to compete at the highest level in your sport. Let GO! Athletics help you get to the top of your game!

Lactate Threshold Testing:
Running, Rowing, Swimming, Cycling, Speed skating, Cross-Country Skiing, and Canoeing/Kayaking

Lactate Threshold Testing is rapidly becoming the standard in sports performance testing because it helps regulate training and avoid over-training and/or under-training. In previous years the maximum oxygen consumption, or VO2 max testing, has been the dominate laboratory measurement of endurance, fitness, and ability. However, changes in VO2 max have not proven to be a significant factor in developing individualized training programs for athletes.

Lactic acid is a byproduct of energy breakdown. In order to sustain a workload, lactic acid must be removed almost at the same rate that it is being produced. Lactate threshold is the maximum work capacity achieved before lactic acid production exceeds lactic acid removal. When an athlete exceeds his/her lactate threshold for a certain period of time, muscles cannot produce sufficient energy levels to sustain the workload, nor can they contract properly. At this point, an involuntary slowing down or cessation in exercise will occur.

An individual athlete’s lactic acid response to exercise can be used to predict and assess performance. The amount of aerobic and anaerobic energy that is used during training will vary because each athlete’s physiological makeup is different. Individualization in program development is important, and we use lactate threshold testing to assess the specific physiological system involved.

Lactate testing will give a breakdown of energy efficiency that coaches and athletes can use to tailor their workouts to achieve optimal physiological responses. Lactate testing information can also be used to plan training volume and intensity on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. Now, athletes of all levels can take advantage of the same technology used by Olympic athletes to achieve competitive excellence.

Body Composition Testing:

A body composition analysis tests the amount of lean body mass (muscle) versus the amount of body fat. This test produces results in percentages, and uses them to categorize individuals based upon age and sex. Body fat is needed for hormone production, insulation, and physical performance. Individual requirements vary depending on classification. A GO! Physiologist will help you achieve an optimal level of lean body mass versus body fat.
